AFTERLIFE

Inspired by Victorian mourning jewellery and the jewellery of Ancient Egypt, 'Afterlife' aims to draw the viewers' attention to the beauty of natural forms revealed in death. Cast fish vertebrae provide the backbones of each piece with beetle exoskeletons and carved bones the gems. The carvings featured on the cow bones are themselves inspired by the natural beauty of skeletal forms or the nanoscopic symmetry of snake venom crystal structures.
